Lauren's Shower

One of my very best friends is also pregnant and due a couple of weeks before me (5/14). I got to go to her shower today and see her for the first time since her wedding in Oct 07! I also got to see her mother (who is one of my mom's best friends) and we got to catch up! She's also having a boy so I loved seeing all the adorable stuff she got! I'm really looking forward to my showers now! (Not that I wasn't before!) Anyway, here's a couple of pics of us with our bellies together!

Enjoy!

30 weeks

Things are going really well. I'm feeling him move all the time now! It's such a cool experience. I can't tell what body parts I'm feeling though. I guess that comes a little later when he gets a little bigger. My belly is sticking out even more now too. Folks are finally not afraid to ask when the baby is due! LOL!

I had my glucose tolerance test on the 12th and everything went fine. The stuff I had to drink really wasn't that bad. It was just hard to drink it down all within 5 minutes.

Realizing I've only got 10 weeks to go is a little scary. I've gone into nesting mode and finally started cleaning the house. I think Scott's been waiting for this phase the whole pregnancy! Ha! Anyway, all in all things are going great!

10 weeks to go (I hope!)

25 weeks

I had a doctor appointment on Thursday and everything is on schedule. Gained my required 4 lbs last month and all measurements are good! He's still moving a lot and now seems to get the hiccups a couple of times a day too! Poor baby. However, Dr. says that means he practicing breathing, so that's good!Next month I have my Glucose screening test. I have to drink a sugar solution that contains 50 grams of glucose. The stuff tastes like a very sweet soda pop (the kind I got is fruit flavored), and you have to get all of it down in five minutes. An hour later, the technician will take a blood sample from my arm to check my blood sugar level. The idea is to see how efficiently your body processes sugar. Results should be available in a few days. If the reading is abnormal (too high), which happens 15 to 23 percent of the time, the doctor will have you come back for a three-hour glucose tolerance test to see if you really do have gestational diabetes. The good news is that most women whose screening test shows elevated blood sugar don't turn out to have gestational diabetes. (Got that info off BabyCenter.com)Anyway, so far, so good! I'm feeling good and hoping it lasts for a while longer!

I had my "20 week" ultrasound today. Scott's parents and sister were able to come up so they got to share the special event with us! He looks a lot bigger! He's 13 inches and 1 lb, 5 oz. The doctor said everything is on track and he's progressing normally! So glad to hear that! He had his mouth open a lot (apparently drinking in the amniotic fluid), so it looked like he was yawning. One of his little fists was around the umbilical cord. The doctor says this can give the baby a "rush" so if they do it once, and realize what happens sometimes they'll continue to do it for the rush! LOL. Got a little thrillseeker already! So far, everything's good!
